New Elvet Bridge in Durham will close for up to 14 months from Monday 20th July 2020. This is to allow major repairs to take place that will protect the long-term future of the bridge.

During this period, services 6, 56, 57, 57A, 58 and X12 will run via North Road, the A690, Margery Lane and Quarryheads Lane between Durham Bus Station and the Whitechurch public house (at the junction of South Road and Stockton Road). As a result, buses will omit the usual stops on Milburngate, Milburngate Bridge and Church Street.

There will be no changes to timetables. All buses will pick-up and drop-off at the stops at the eastern end of Quarryheads Lane (near the junction with South Road and Stockton Road). However, they will not serve the stop on Margery Lane or the remaining ones on Quarryheads Lane (near the Durham School).
