Arriva celebrates International Women's Day 2020

Celebrating the women of Arriva and progressing gender equality

International Women's Day 2020 is an annual celebration of women across the world, highlighting the inequalities between genders, and giving us ways to approach it.

At Arriva we know that there is a lack of representation in both the transport sector and in our own businesses. Although women make up more than 50% of the wider Arriva population, they only make up 32% of our leaders. As part of Doing the Right thing, we want to celebrate the women of Arriva on IWD and every day.

Arriva Merseyside invited The Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Cllr Anna Rothery to visit the Speke Depot to meet a range of female employees, to discuss the lack of female representation within the transport sector and how we can encourage more women into the workplace.

Head of Marketing for Arriva North West and Wales, Lisa Pearson said, "Celebrating International Women’s day at Arriva is always a special occasion, we are able to come together with our international colleagues and recognise the impact we have made and continue to make.

Having Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Cllr Anna Rothery visit our Speke depot and meet with a broad cross section of our staff was an absolute pleasure. We continue to work to support women across Merseyside and beyond".
